Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. This site uses:

  • Essential cookies, which make the site work. For example, remembering the cookie choice you made so we do not ask you again, and protecting our enquiry form from spam. These do not need your consent.
  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use the site. These are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner.

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of this site, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

Who we share your information with

We only share your information where we need to in order to do what you have asked us to do, or where the law requires it. Depending on your project that may include:

  • Our team and specialist subcontractors who work on your property, so they know where to go and what to do.
  • Professionals involved in your project, such as architects, structural engineers, surveyors and Building Control, where you have agreed we should work with them.
  • Suppliers who help us run the business, such as our website host, our email provider, the service that receives our enquiry form and our accountants. These suppliers can only use your information on our instructions.
  • Our insurers and professional advisers, if there is a claim or a legal question.
  • Public bodies, such as HMRC, a local authority or a court, where we are legally required to.

If we ever sold or restructured the business, your information could be passed to the new owner under the same protections.

Where your information is stored

We aim to keep your information in the United Kingdom. Some of the suppliers we use, for example email and analytics providers, may store information in other countries, including the United States. Where that happens we make sure a recognised legal safeguard is in place, such as the UK’s adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, so your information stays protected to a UK standard.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not go ahead: up to 12 months from our last contact, in case you come back to us, then deleted.
  • Projects we carry out: for the length of the project and then for 6 years after completion, so we can honour our workmanship guarantee, answer questions about the work and meet our legal and tax obligations. Records relating to the structure of a building may be kept for up to 15 years, which is the legal time limit for certain building claims.
  • Accounting records: 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by law.
  • Project photographs used with your permission: until you ask us to stop using them.
  • Website analytics data: in anonymised form, for up to 26 months.

When we no longer need information we delete it or anonymise it securely.

How we keep it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), our website and accounts are protected by security software and strong passwords, and access to project information is limited to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so if you think your information has been misused please tell us straight away.

Your rights

You have rights over your personal information. You can ask us:

  • for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • to delete your information, where we no longer have a good reason to keep it;
  • to stop or limit how we use it;
  • to receive the information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere;
  • to object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • to withdraw consent at any time, where consent is our reason for using it.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will normally respond within one month and we will not charge you. We may need to check your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us before you do.

Reviews and social media

Reviews shown on this website are taken from our public Google Business Profile and displayed word for word as they were left, with the reviewer’s first name as it appears on Google. If you would like a review you left removed from our site, contact us and we will remove it, although we cannot delete it from Google on your behalf.

If you contact us through Facebook or Instagram, those platforms will also process your information under their own policies.

Children

This website is aimed at adults planning building work. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use your information we will let you know where we can.
